About This Scholarship

Digital Gujarat is the Government of Gujarat citizen-services portal, and its Scholarship Services section (hosted on the Gujarat State Scholarship Portal, gssp.gujarat.gov.in) takes the online applications for post-matric scholarships and allied schemes of three departments: the Directorate of Scheduled Caste Welfare, the Directorate of Developing Castes Welfare (SEBC, EBC and nomadic and denotified tribes) and the Directorate of Tribal Development. Each directorate publishes its own 2026-27 guideline and scheme list. Students register as citizens, choose financial year 2026-27 and apply under the heading of their department.

Gujarat-origin SC, ST and SEBC students who study at recognised institutions outside the state also apply online on the same portal and submit copies of the documents to the district office of their home district. Students holding a freeship card apply only under the freeship-card version of a scheme, and the tuition fee of such students is credited to their own account for payment to the college within 7 days.

The 2026-27 windows differ by department. The SC and SEBC guidelines set 6 July to 30 September 2026. The portal then re-opened the SC window from 1 October to 31 October 2026 and opened the ST window from 1 September to 30 November 2026, with a further window of 1 to 20 October 2026 for remaining ST students of 2025-26. No re-opening notice for SEBC appears on the portal. The date fields on this page use the earliest closing date among the open windows.

How to Apply

Application Guide

  1. Open digitalgujarat.gov.in or gssp.gujarat.gov.in, choose Login/Register and then Citizen Login. New users select New Registration (Citizen) with a mobile number and email ID; earlier users log in with the old ID and password (Forgot Password sends an OTP).
  2. Update My Profile after login, because the application can be filed only after the profile is complete.
  3. Go to Services, then Scholarship Services, click Request a New Service and select the financial year 2026-27.
  4. Under the heading of the department (Director Scheduled Caste Welfare, Developing Castes Welfare or Tribal Development), open the scheme that fits the student and click Continue to Service.
  5. Fill the five stages (Registration Detail, Bank Details, Academic Details, Disability Detail, Attachment) and upload scanned original documents and a passport-size photograph. For the central schemes, enter the OTR number generated on the National Scholarship Portal.
  6. Click Verify Mobile Number, enter the OTP and choose Confirm and Final Submit. Print the form and submit it with the documents to the school, college or institute.

Selection Process

The guidelines describe no merit ranking. The online application goes to the login of the student's school, college or institute, and the student submits the printed form with the documents there. The institute can return a form for correction, and the student can also withdraw and re-send it before the institute acts. Awards then follow the scheme conditions: category, income band, course, hostel status and, for the state tuition-fee schemes, the 50% criterion set in the government resolution. Students who held a scholarship in 2025-26 are moved to Renewal mode automatically and only check their details and upload documents.
