About This Scholarship

Mukhyamantri Yuva Swavalamban Yojana (MYSY) is a Government of Gujarat scheme run by the Education Department. It pays tuition fee assistance, hostel or rent assistance and a one-time book and equipment grant to students who scored well in Class 10 or Class 12 and belong to families with an annual income of up to Rs 6 lakh. Applications are filed on the MYSY portal and documents are verified at Help Centres in colleges and universities; the 2026-27 instructions state that more than 350 Help Centres work across Gujarat. Approved assistance is paid by direct benefit transfer to the student's Aadhaar-seeded bank account.

The scheme covers diploma and degree courses only; postgraduate courses are not covered. A first-year applicant must meet the percentile or marks condition and the income limit. The same student then renews every year by passing the previous year with at least 50% marks and keeping at least 75% attendance. A student who missed the first-year application can apply in a later year through the Delayed Application route, and students in 5-year integrated courses receive aid for the first three years only.

For 2026-27 the portal gives one date for Fresh, Renewal and Delayed applications in all courses. The online application closes on 30 October 2026 at 6 pm and document verification at the Help Centre closes on 5 November 2026. No application is accepted afterwards. The portal also states that the link for D2D (Diploma to Degree), CBSE and NIOS students who passed in 2026-27 will open shortly, and that income certificates issued in 2023-24 were valid only up to 31 March 2026, so a new certificate is needed.
