About This Scholarship

The Sitaram Jindal Foundation (SJF), a charitable organization based in Bengaluru, runs the S R Jindal Scholarship Scheme for students of Classes 11 and 12, ITI trades, diploma, graduate and postgraduate courses, including engineering and medicine. The Foundation says it gives scholarships to more than 12,000 students a year across India. Monthly rates run from Rs 500 to Rs 3,200 depending on the course, and in most categories girls get a higher rate than boys and face a lower marks cut-off. Physically challenged students, widows and unmarried wards of ex-servicemen get higher graduate and postgraduate rates, and hostellers get an extra monthly amount. Family income must not exceed Rs 4 lakh a year for salaried families and Rs 2.5 lakh a year for all others.

The application form lays down further rules. A student applies only once during a course. Applications from final-year students of courses of three years or longer are not entertained, and courses shorter than one year do not qualify. The student must not receive any other stipend or scholarship, and the scholarship stops once the student crosses 30 years of age. Scholarships go to students of government and government-aided institutions and of private institutions that do not charge exorbitant fees. Applications sent through agents are rejected.

  2. Use the apply link on that page, which leads to the Foundation's new scholarship portal (create an account or log in). The application form (Annexure II) and the annexures can also be downloaded free from the Foundation's website; forms printed elsewhere are not accepted.
  3. Fill in the form: personal details, parent's occupation and annual income, last examination marks, course and fees, hostel details, other scholarships and the student's bank account details. The student and the parent or guardian sign it, and the principal adds a report and recommendation and attests the photograph.

  5. The form instructs applicants to send the application to The Trustee, Sitaram Jindal Foundation, Jindal Nagar, Tumkur Road, Bengaluru 560073. The portal's own submission steps need an account and were not viewed.
  6. No application dates are published for 2026-27; check the Scholarships page for any announcement.
