About This Scholarship

The State Scholarship Portal (SSP) of the Government of Karnataka is the common online window for scholarships and fee reimbursement offered by the state's departments to students of Class 1 to 10 (pre-matric) and Class 11 and above (post-matric). This page covers post-matric students. A student creates one account and files one common application that is used for all schemes. The portal carries the schemes of the Social Welfare, Tribal Welfare, Backward Classes Welfare, Minority Welfare, Technical Education, Medical Education, Disability Welfare and Collegiate Education departments, AYUSH, Agriculture, Handlooms and Textiles, Transport, Fisheries and Labour departments, and of boards such as the Karnataka State Brahmin Development Board and the Arya Vysya Community Development Corporation.

Income conditions differ by department. The eligibility criteria document published for 2025-26 sets family income up to Rs 2.5 lakh for the SC post-matric scholarship, above Rs 2.5 lakh and below Rs 10 lakh for the fee reimbursement schemes of Social Welfare, Technical Education, Medical Education and AYUSH, and up to Rs 2 lakh (PUC and general degree courses) or Rs 2.5 lakh (professional and postgraduate courses) for minority fee reimbursement. Some schemes, such as those of Handlooms and Textiles, have no caste or income restriction, and the Agriculture and Handloom schemes are not top-ups: a student who receives a scholarship from another department cannot also receive them.

For 2026-27 the portal gives a separate closing date for each department. The earliest closing date for post-matric applications is 31 October 2026, for Backward Classes Welfare and Technical Education; Social Welfare closes last, on 31 January 2027. No opening date is published. Post-matric students log in through Student Login (Postmatric) for 2026-27, and the portal states that NSP OTR registration is needed for SC, ST and OBC students and that Aadhaar seeding of the bank account is mandatory.

How to Apply

Application Guide

  1. Open the State Scholarship Portal at ssp.karnataka.gov.in and choose Create New Account. Enter the student's Aadhaar number, the name and gender as in Aadhaar, the mobile number of the student or parent and, optionally, an e-mail address.
  2. Generate the NSP One Time Registration (OTR) number first if the student is SC, ST or OBC, and make sure Aadhaar is seeded to the bank account.
  3. Log in through Student Login (Postmatric) for 2026-27.
  4. Fill the common application (it is common for all schemes): Class 10 registration number, RD number of the caste, income or EWS certificate, UDID for students with disabilities, University or board registration number of the current course, counselling details for professional courses, Class 12 registration number for first-year undergraduates, and previous-year details for students other than SC and ST.
  5. Upload documents for e-attestation where applicable, select whether the student is a day scholar or a hosteller, and enter the OTR number.
  6. Submit the application before the closing date of the concerned department.

Selection Process

One common application serves all schemes, and the scheme that applies depends on the student's caste, income and course. Caste and income are checked through the Revenue Department RD number, student records are taken from the university or board (UUCMS or UNIDATA), and hostel admission details are entered on the State Hostel Portal or the SSP hostel system. Documents listed for e-attestation are approved by the concerned department's officer. Some schemes (Agriculture, Handlooms and Textiles) pay only to students who receive no scholarship from another department.
