Dr. Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University

Dr. Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University (DSMNRU) is a state university on Mohaan Road, Lucknow, established in 2008 by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Government of Uttar Pradesh. It is recognised under Section 12(B) of the UGC Act, and its 2026-27 prospectus lists recognition from the Bar Council of India, the Rehabilitation Council of India, the Pharmacy Council of India and the Association of Indian Universities. The barrier-free campus covers 144.55 acres, and the university received a National Award from the President of India in 2014 for an accessible environment. Half of all seats are reserved for persons with disabilities, including 25% of the total for visually impaired students.

The university has ten faculties: languages; arts, humanities and social science; science; law; commerce and management; fine arts and performing arts; special education; paramedical and rehabilitation sciences; pharmacy; and engineering and technology. Undergraduate programmes include B.A., B.Sc., B.Sc. (Computer Science and IT), B.Com., BBA, B.Com. LLB (Hons.), BVA, BASLP, B.Pharma and B.Tech in five branches. Postgraduate programmes include M.A. (Hindi, English, Economics, History, Political Science, Sociology and Education), M.Sc., MCA, MBA, M.Com., MSW, LLM, MVA and M.Tech, with B.Ed. and M.Ed. in special education. For 2026-27 about half of the seats in most programmes are filled through CUET and half on 10+2 merit, B.Tech seats go through AKTU counselling and CUET, and postgraduate seats go through CUET (PG).
