About Institute for Excellence in Higher Education
The Institute for Excellence in Higher Education (IEHE) is a state-level autonomous academy of the Department of Higher Education, Government of Madhya Pradesh, set up in 1995 near Kaliasot Dam on Kolar Road, Bhopal. The Institute for Excellence in Higher Education Society, registered under the Society Registration Act 1973, manages it, and UGC recognised it under Sections 2(f) and 12(B) in July 2002. UGC has given it autonomous status since January 2007, extended until 2034, and its students pay enrolment, migration and degree fees to Barkatullah University, Bhopal. NAAC has accredited the institute four times, most recently with an A+ grade (CGPA 3.45) in 2023. NIRF placed it in the 201-300 band of the College category in 2024 and 2025.
Programmes follow the four-year NEP pattern of major and minor subjects. B.Sc. (Honours) majors include Biotechnology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Electronics, Forensic Science, Mathematics and Physics, with B.Sc. (Honours) Agriculture; B.A. majors include Economics, English Literature, History, Political Science, Psychology and Fashion Designing; B.Com. offers Commerce, Retail Operations and Human Resource Operations. The institute also runs BBA, B.P.E.S., M.A. in ten subjects, M.Sc. in six, M.Com., and an MBA (60 seats) begun in 2025-26. UG places go by merit of Class 12 marks after online registration; BBA and MBA seats come through DTE Madhya Pradesh counselling. NIRF 2025 data records 3,233 UG and 318 PG students.
