Institute of Hotel Management, Bhubaneswar was established in 1973 as Food Craft Institute. In 1981, the State Government of Orissa introduced 3 years Diploma Course in Hotel Management & Catering Technology to Food Craft Institute and the Institute was renamed as State Institute of Hotel Management. In 1984, the Government of India further upgraded the institute to the National Level and the institute was named as Institute of Hotel Management Catering Technology & Applied Nutrition.
