Kakatiya University

Kakatiya University is a state university at Vidyaranyapuri, Warangal, in Telangana, created on 19 August 1976 by upgrading the Osmania University postgraduate centre in the city. The UGC lists it among state (public) universities, established 1976, and under Section 12(B). The campus covers about 672 acres, and the university profile counts 27 departments on campus, 19 constituent colleges and 473 affiliated colleges. NAAC reaccredited it with an A grade in 2009 and 2017 and an A+ grade (CGPA 3.27) in 2023. The UGC granted it graded autonomy in December 2018. In NIRF 2025 its Pharmacy entry falls in the 102-125 rank band.

Teaching is organised in the faculties of Arts, Science, Commerce and Business Management, Education, Engineering, Law, Pharmacy and Social Sciences. The university site lists 105 programmes offered on campus for 2022-23, covering postgraduate, undergraduate, PG diploma, certificate, M.Phil. and Ph.D. levels: M.A., M.Sc., M.Com., MBA, MCA, M.Tech, M.Pharmacy, M.Ed. and M.P.Ed., B.Tech in eight branches, B.Pharmacy, B.Ed., Pharm.D, and 33 Ph.D. programmes. Its School of Distance Learning and Continuing Education offers 28 further programmes by distance mode. Admission to M.A., M.Sc., M.Com. and PG diploma courses runs through the Telangana Common Postgraduate Entrance Test (TG CPGET), which Kakatiya University conducts for the state universities for 2026-27.
