Medical College Baroda

Medical College Baroda, also written Government Medical College, Baroda, is a Government of Gujarat medical college at Anandpura, Vadodara. The NMC pro forma records 1946 as its starting year and 1949 as the year its MBBS course was recognised, with 40 MBBS seats in 1949 to 1953. It is affiliated to, and technically is the Faculty of Medicine of, The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, which conducts its examinations and awards its undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral degrees. Teaching is based at the S.S.G. (Sir Sayajirao General) Hospital, established in 1865, which has 1,392 teaching beds and registered 898,210 outpatients and 91,615 inpatients in 2024.

MBBS seats grew from 40 to 60, 120, 140 and 180, and a letter of permission dated 21 March 2018 raised them from 180 to 250; NMC's seat matrix for 2026-27 approves 250 MBBS seats, and the college's October 2025 pro forma lists its status as recognised. NMC's postgraduate seat matrix for 2026-27 approves 216 MD and MS seats: MD in 18 subjects, led by General Medicine (25), Anaesthesiology (19), and Paediatrics, Microbiology and Pathology (14 each), and MS in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (20), General Surgery (19), Orthopaedics (18), Ophthalmology (8) and ENT (6). The college also runs M.Ch Plastic Surgery, M.Sc. programmes in Medical Anatomy, Medical Biochemistry, Medical Pharmacology and Physiology, and PhD programmes. Admission to MBBS is through NEET-UG, with Gujarat ACPUGMEC counselling for state seats and MCC for all-India seats; MD and MS admission is through NEET-PG counselling.
