The admission portal (headed Admissions open now for 2026; it prints no academic session) lists annual fees of Rs 1,85,000 for B.Tech. CSE, its AI and ML, AI and Data Science, AI and Cyber Security and Business Systems variants; Rs 1,65,000 for ECE and ECE (VLSI); Rs 1,20,000 for Mechanical (AI and Robotics), EEE, Electrical and Civil. MBA is Rs 1,60,000 (Business Analytics Rs 1,70,000), MCA Rs 1,30,000, B.Pharm Rs 1,25,000, M.Tech. Rs 85,000, BCA Rs 60,000, BBA Rs 55,000. A one-time admission fee of Rs 15,000 (Rs 5,000 for M.Tech. and M.Sc.) is extra.

NISTEE is the NIST Entrance Examination, the university's own test. The admission portal lists NISTEE or JEE Main for B.Tech., NISTEE, CAT or MAT for MBA and Master in Hospital Administration, NISTEE or a GATE score for M.Tech., NISTEE for MCA and B.Pharm, and NISTEE or SAMS for M.Sc.; BBA, BCA and B.Sc. are merit-based. No NISTEE dates for 2027 admission are published (checked 20 October 2026).

Yes. NIST Berhampur, started in 1996, became NIST University under the NIST University, Odisha Act, 2023 (Odisha Act 1 of 2024). It is a self-financed private unitary non-affiliating university; the Act came into force on 7 February 2024, and the UGC's letter of December 2024 includes it in the Section 2(f) list. It is on the same Pallur Hills campus in Berhampur.

The earlier institute held NAAC Cycle-1 Grade A with a CGPA of 3.22 on a four-point scale (certificate of 4 December 2018, valid up to 31 December 2023). NAAC's letter of 29 April 2025 extends that validity until three months after the launch of MBGL for NIST University; no Cycle-2 grade is published. The university submitted NIRF 2026 data but is not in the NIRF 2025 rank lists checked, so it has no NIRF rank here.

The NIRF 2026 Engineering data sheet (graduating batch 2024-25) shows 418 UG students graduating in the minimum time, 378 placed (90.4%) and a median salary of Rs 6,15,000; its Management sheet shows 106 MBA students, 95 placed and Rs 4,50,000. The placements page says that as of 5 May 2026 the 2025-26 season had 450+ offers, 140+ recruiters and a highest package of Rs 21 LPA, and lists 340 placed of 748 registered for 2026. Recruiters include TCS, Infosys, PwC, Deloitte and Flipkart.

The scholarships page lists a sibling scholarship of Rs 10,000 (one time), a merit scholarship of Rs 3,000 a semester for students with no backlogs, support for wards of NIST employees and gold medals for final-year toppers. It also points students to Odisha schemes (E-Medhabruti, Post-Matric, Krishi Vidya Nidhi) and the National Scholarship Portal. No session is printed on the page.

Yes. The campus page says the hostels hold 2,000 students in blocks for boys and girls, with a mess, wardens and caretakers: Albert Einstein and Rabindranath Tagore halls for boys and Marie Curie Hall for girls, each of these halls for up to 500 residents. No hostel fee is published on the pages checked (20 October 2026).

The AICTE extension of approval for 2026-27 (20 April 2026) lists B.Tech. intake of 360 for CSE, 420 for CSE (AI and ML), 60 each for CSE (AI and Data Science) and CS and Business Systems, 30 each for ECE, ECE (VLSI Design and Technology), Electrical and Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical and Civil. The admission portal and the brochure also list CSE (AI and Cyber Security) and Mechanical (AI and Robotics), which that letter does not name separately; the portal's seat counts for ECE, ECE (VLSI) and Mechanical are higher than the AICTE figures.

Admission to NIST University goes through the portal admission.nist.edu: register, fill the form, pay the fee, appear for NISTEE (the university's own entrance examination) where the programme asks for it, and attend counselling. B.Tech. seats go by NISTEE or JEE Main, MBA by NISTEE, CAT or MAT, M.Tech. by NISTEE or a GATE score, and BBA, BCA and B.Sc. by merit.
