About Silicon University
Silicon University, Odisha is a self-financed private university in Bhubaneswar, created under the Silicon University, Odisha Act, 2023 and established by a state government notification dated 31 January 2024. It was formerly Silicon Institute of Technology, which began in 2001 with four AICTE-approved B.Tech programmes and held autonomous status from the University Grants Commission for ten years from 2018-19. The campus, called SiliconTech, spreads over 18.5 acres at Silicon Hills, Patia, in the Infocity area of Bhubaneswar. NAAC had accredited the institute with Grade A (CGPA 3.04 on a four-point scale), valid until 31 December 2023. NIRF 2025 placed the university in the 201-300 band of the Engineering category.
Teaching is organised in five departments. B.Tech programmes run in Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering and VLSI Design and Technology, with a present intake of 720 regular and 72 lateral-entry seats. Postgraduate options include M.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering, Power Engineering and Energy Systems, and Electronics and Communication Engineering, an MCA and an integrated MCA, M.Sc. programmes in Data Science, VLSI, Embedded Electronics and IIoT, Molecular Medicine and Digital Healthcare Systems and Management, and Ph.D. research. B.Tech admission uses JEE Main 2026 scores through e-counselling by the Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE), M.Tech seats go by GATE or the OJEE PGAT, and MCA admission is through OJEE.
