Master of Chirurgiae
Master of Chirurgiae (M.Ch) is a postgraduate super-speciality surgical programme regulated by the National Medical Commission, generally of three years' duration, pursued after MS or an equivalent postgraduate qualification in the related broad surgical specialty. Admission is through NEET-SS, the national super-speciality entrance examination. Students train intensively in one surgical super-speciality, such as neurosurgery, cardiothoracic surgery, urology, plastic surgery, paediatric surgery or surgical oncology, through advanced operative training, hospital postings and a research thesis. The programme builds highly specialised surgical skills well beyond MS-level training. M.Ch suits MS-qualified surgeons who want to practise a focused surgical super-speciality, take up academic positions, or lead a speciality surgical unit.
