Overview
CUCET (Chandigarh University Common Entrance Test) is the entrance and scholarship test that Chandigarh University (CU) holds for admission to its own programmes. It is the university's own test, not a national exam such as JEE Main or CUET. At the Punjab campus in Gharuan, Mohali, CUCET 2027 is compulsory for B.E., B.Pharm., Pharm.D., integrated law, BA (Hons.) Psychology, MBA, MCA, LLM, M.Pharm. and master's programmes in physiotherapy, optometry, medical laboratory science and nutrition and dietetics. For other programmes the test is optional, but a CUCET score is needed for a CUCET scholarship.
CUCET 2027 runs in two phases: Phase I from October 2026 to May 2027 and Phase II from July 2027 until admissions close. There are no fixed test dates. Candidates register, pay Rs 1,000 and pick a test date from the dates offered, then take the test online from home.

Eligibility Criteria
CUCET has no eligibility rules of its own. The CUCET site says eligibility follows Chandigarh University's policy for each programme: a candidate must meet the minimum marks of the programme applied for, and sits the test module that matches their Class 12 stream or degree. For the programmes where CUCET 2027 is compulsory at the Punjab campus, CU's programme pages give these minimums:
| Programme | Minimum eligibility |
|---|---|
| B.E. | Class 12 with Physics and Mathematics plus one of Chemistry, Biotechnology, Computer Science, Biology, Informatics Practices or Information Technology, with 50% to 70% in aggregate depending on the branch: 60% for Computer Science and Engineering, 50% for Mechanical Engineering, 70% for the CSE (Hons.) specialisations in Artificial Intelligence and in AI and Machine Learning |
| B.Pharm. | Class 12 with at least 60%, with English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Biology; age 17 by 31 December of the year of admission |

CUCET 2027 Scholarship Slabs
CUCET marks out of 100 decide the CUCET scholarship, a percentage of the semester fee. The 2027 slabs differ by phase:
| CUCET marks | Phase I (October 2026 to May 2027) | Phase II (July 2027 onwards) |
|---|---|---|
| 90.01 to 100 | 100% | 100% |
| 80 to 90 | 50% | 40% |
| 70 to 79.99 | 40% | 30% |
| 60 to 69.99 | 30% | 20% |
| 50 to 59.99 | 25% | 15% |
| 40 to 49.99 | 15% | 10% |
| 30 to 39.99 | Eligible, no scholarship | Eligible, no scholarship |
The slab table gives no band below 30 marks. On CU's B.E. Computer Science and Engineering page, for example, a 50% scholarship on the Rs 1,53,000 semester fee comes to Rs 76,500 a semester (figures shown under CUCET 2026).
Some management programmes at the Punjab campus have their own slabs: MBA (Banking, Financial Services and Insurance) with SBI and Tally, MBA Strategic HR with AON Consulting, MBA (FinTech and AI) with NSE Academy, MBA Strategic Human Resources (ITP) and the B.Com. (Hons.) programmes with Grant Thornton. For these, 80 to 100 marks give 40%, 70 to 79.99 give 30%, 60 to 69.99 give 20%, 50 to 59.99 give 15% and 40 to 49.99 give 10%.
- If a candidate takes CUCET more than once, the highest score counts for the scholarship.
- The scholarship follows the programme the candidate is finally admitted to.
- It is not open to students migrating from another university, or to international students.
- It runs for the whole programme if renewed each year: renewal needs a CGPA of 7.5 at the end of each year, no E, F or I grade in any subject and no indiscipline.
CU's scholarship page for 2027-28 also has merit schemes that do not use CUCET: on JEE Main ranks for engineering, on Class 12, diploma or graduation marks, and on CAT, MAT, CMAT, ATMA or XAT scores for the MBA, each for a limited share of seats. A student can hold only one scholarship.
Sources: CUCET 2027 home page; CUCET FAQs; CU scholarships 2027-28; CU B.E. CSE page. Checked on 14 October 2026.
After CUCET: Result, Admission and Further Attempts
- The result is declared 24 hours after the test. It is emailed and shown in the candidate's CUCET login.
- With the result, the candidate submits the application for admission and for the merit scholarship.
- Two attempts are allowed in each phase, and a candidate can take both phases. A further attempt, or a test in the next phase, costs Rs 500.
- A score for an engineering programme does not count for a non-engineering programme, or the other way round: changing between them needs a new CUCET attempt.
- Questions about the result, the test or technical problems must be sent to cucet@cumail.in within 48 hours of the test. If the computer fails during the test, the time lost is made up.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the CUCET 2027 exam date?
CUCET 2027 has no fixed exam date. Chandigarh University runs it in two phases: Phase I from October 2026 to May 2027 and Phase II from July 2027 until admissions close. After registering and paying the fee, each candidate picks a test date from the dates offered.
How do I apply for CUCET 2027, and what is the last date?
Register at cucet.cuchd.in, pay the Rs 1,000 registration fee, fill in your current qualification and choose a test date. Rs 1,000, which includes the digital prospectus. It is not refundable once the application is submitted. A further attempt, or a test in the next phase, costs Rs 500. A form bought offline for Rs 1,000 carries a number that is entered online, so the fee is not paid twice.
What is the CUCET exam pattern?
CUCET is an online test of 120 minutes with 100 multiple-choice questions of 1 mark each. The sections depend on your Class 12 stream or programme: Class 12 Non-Medical students, for example, get English 10, Physics 25, Chemistry or Computers 25, Mathematics 25 and Aptitude 15. The pattern page is still headed CUCET 2026.
Is there negative marking in CUCET?
No. CU says there is no negative marking in CUCET. Each of the 100 questions carries 1 mark.

How many times can I take CUCET?
Two attempts are allowed in each phase, and you can take both phases. Each further attempt costs Rs 500. For the scholarship, your highest score counts.
Can I take CUCET from home, and is there an admit card?
Yes. CUCET is online only and is taken from home on a laptop or PC with a camera; there are no test centres. There is no admit card: the test details are sent to your registered email. The result is declared 24 hours after the test.
Is CUCET a national-level exam?
No. CU's site calls it a national-level test, but CUCET is Chandigarh University's own entrance and scholarship test, held for admission and scholarships at its own campuses. It is not a national exam such as JEE Main or CUET, which the National Testing Agency conducts.
