Overview
The Uttar Pradesh Combined Agriculture and Technology Entrance Test (UPCATET) is the joint entrance test for undergraduate, Master's and Ph.D. programmes, and the MBA in Agri-Business Management, at the five agricultural universities of Uttar Pradesh: Banda, Acharya Narendra Deva (Kumarganj, Ayodhya), Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel (Meerut), Chandra Shekhar Azad (Kanpur) and Mahatma Buddha (Kushinagar). Under the Uttar Pradesh Krishi Evam Prodyogik Vishwavidyalaya (Dwitiya Sanshodhan) Adhiniyam, 2006, one of the universities organises the test on rotation. UPCATET 2026 was organised by the Registrar of Banda University of Agriculture and Technology (BUAT) with the official site upcatetexam.org. Applicants choose one paper group for undergraduate programmes, and the same test serves all five universities. No notice for 2027 has been published, and the organising university for 2027 is not announced.

How scores are used
To qualify, candidates need at least 10% marks (General and OBC) or 5% (SC and ST). Merit lists are prepared programme-wise and seats are allotted through the university counselling on the official website, with offline and special offline rounds for leftover seats. MBA (Agri-Business Management) applicants who clear the cut-off are called for a group discussion (150 marks) and a personal interview (50 marks), and the final list is a comprehensive merit list. Sports persons get a 2% weightage on marks for undergraduate programmes other than B.V.Sc. and A.H. The brochure lists vertical and horizontal reservation, including horizontal seats for children and spouses of regular employees of the agricultural universities.

- Domicile: the candidate must be a native of Uttar Pradesh, for example by passing the qualifying exam in the state and living there for five years. A certificate is shown at counselling.
- Age on 31 December 2026: B.V.Sc. and A.H. 17 to 25 years; other undergraduate programmes 16 to 22; 5 years' relaxation for SC, ST, OBC and persons with disabilities; no upper limit for Master's and Ph.D.
- Candidates appearing in Intermediate can choose a paper group; the qualifying degree must come from regular study, not open or distance education.
