Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology is a state agricultural university at Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. It was established on 2 October 2000 under the Uttar Pradesh Agriculture University Act (revised), 1958, and inaugurated on 28 March 2002 by the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. The Governor of Uttar Pradesh is its Chancellor. The university states that it is recognised and funded by the Uttar Pradesh government and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and appears in the UGC list of recognised universities. Its jurisdiction covers 15 districts in the Saharanpur, Meerut, Moradabad and Bareilly divisions, three of the state's nine agro-climatic zones.

Teaching is organised in seven colleges: Agriculture, Biotechnology, Veterinary and Animal Science, Technology, Horticulture, Post-Harvest Technology and Food Processing, and Sugarcane Science and Technology. Undergraduate programmes include the four-year B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture, B.Sc. (Hons.) Horticulture, B.V.Sc. & A.H., and B.Tech in Biotechnology, Agricultural Engineering, Food Technology, Dairy Technology, Sugarcane Science and Technology, computer science, data science and artificial intelligence, information technology, electronics and communication, mechanical and chemical engineering. Postgraduate courses include M.Sc. (Agriculture) in eight subjects, M.Sc. (Horticulture) in three, M.V.Sc. in sixteen, M.Tech programmes in agricultural engineering, sugar technology and fermentation, and Ph.D. programmes. Admission is through the state's combined agriculture and technology entrance test (UPCATET) and ICAR counselling, with UPTAC counselling listed for technology programmes.
