Christ Church College

Christ Church College is a grant-in-aid, co-educational minority college at 37/17 The Mall, Kanpur, described by the college as the oldest college in the city. Its history begins with a mission school; college education began in 1866 under affiliation to Calcutta University, followed by Allahabad University (1892), Agra University (1927) and Kanpur University, now Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University (CSJMU), in 1966. The college is a Church of North India institution of the Agra Diocese, run by the Christ Church College Society, which was registered in 1956. The 2022 NAAC self-study report records UGC recognition under sections 2(f) and 12(B) from 1 July 1956. NAAC accredited the college at B grade (CGPA 2.13 on a four-point scale) in a certificate dated 9 November 2022, valid up to 8 November 2027. The campus covers 3.185 acres.

The college has faculties of Arts, Science and Commerce. Undergraduate programmes are B.A. (Hindi, English, Urdu, Economics, History, Political Science, Philosophy, Sociology, Physical Education), B.Sc. (Biology and Mathematics groups) and B.Com., with BBA (Retail) as a self-finance course. Postgraduate programmes are M.A. in six subjects, M.Sc. in five and M.Com., and Ph.D. is offered under university guidelines. The 2022 NAAC report lists sanctioned strengths of 400 for B.Com. and 360 for B.A. Admission is online: applicants register on the CSJMU admission portal for a University Registration Number, then apply on the college's admission link, and undergraduate admission is on merit; the four-year undergraduate programme under NEP 2020 applies to students admitted from 2025-26.
