Darbhanga Medical College

Darbhanga Medical College, also called Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), is a government medical college at Laheriasarai, Darbhanga, in north Bihar. The college states that it was established in 1946 as a private institution and was later taken over by the Government of Bihar. Its teaching hospital reported 1,030 beds in the college's 2021-22 public disclosure to the medical regulator. The MBBS course was recognised through a Medical Council of India letter dated 18 February 2020, and in July 2026 the National Medical Commission (NMC) granted a letter of permission raising the MBBS intake from 120 to 150 seats for 2026-27. That letter places the college under the Bihar University of Health Sciences, while the college's own pages still name Aryabhatta Knowledge University, Patna.

The MBBS course lasts four and a half years followed by a one-year rotatory internship, and admission is through NEET UG. The PG page lists 143 MD and MS seats: MD in twelve subjects, among them General Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Pathology, Paediatrics and Anaesthesiology, and MS in Otorhinolaryngology, General Surgery, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics and Anatomy. It also lists a two-year diploma in Anaesthesiology and DNB seats in Skin and VD. Cardiology, Neurology and Neuro-Surgery are shown as super-speciality departments. B.Sc. Nursing and paramedical courses, including ophthalmic assistant, operation theatre assistant and DMLT with X-ray technician, are also offered.
