D.A.V. College, Kanpur

D.A.V. College, officially Dayanand Anglo-Vedic (PG) College, is a co-educational college at Civil Lines, Kanpur. Its history page records that Mahatma Hansraj laid the foundation on 11 July 1919, with Lala Diwan Chand as founder principal. The college is affiliated to Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University (CSJMU), Kanpur. NAAC accredited it in the second cycle at grade B+ (CGPA 2.59), in a certificate dated 25 October 2024 that is valid for five years from that date. The college's NIRF 2025 data submission lists a sanctioned intake of 5,310 for three-year undergraduate and 4,133 for two-year postgraduate programmes in 2023-24, with 22,114 undergraduate and 7,773 postgraduate students in all years.

The college has faculties of Language; Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences; Fine Arts and Performing Arts; Commerce; and Science, with self-finance departments alongside. Undergraduate programmes are B.A. in fifteen subjects, B.Sc. (Botany, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Zoology and self-finance subjects such as Biotechnology and Information Technology), B.Com. and a two-year B.Ed.; the first three are three-year degrees. Postgraduate programmes are M.A. in fifteen subjects, M.Sc. in ten subjects and M.Com. First-year admission to the B.A., B.Sc., B.Com., M.A., M.Sc. and M.Com. classes is online, through the CSJM University Samarth portal and the college's own admission portal, and class-wise fees for session 2026-27 are set in a statement dated 30 April 2026.
