About Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre
Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre is the medical constituent of Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, a deemed-to-be university at Sant Tukaram Nagar, Pimpri, Pune, Maharashtra. The college was established in 1996 with an MBBS intake of 100 seats. The Vidyapeeth was declared a deemed university by the UGC under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, through a notification dated 11 January 2003, and received Category-I status in 2018. NAAC re-accredited it in the third cycle at A++ with a CGPA of 3.64 on 8 February 2022, valid until 7 February 2029. The National Medical Commission recognises the college for undergraduate, postgraduate and super-speciality courses. In NIRF 2025 the Vidyapeeth ranked 12th in the Medical category and 41st among universities.
MBBS now has 250 seats. The college's NMC course list shows 21 MD and MS subjects with 254 seats and 14 M.Ch. and D.M. subjects with 34 seats, alongside an MPH programme, M.Sc. courses in medical microbiology and medical biochemistry, Ph.D. programmes, fellowships and certificate courses. Departments run from anatomy, physiology and biochemistry to cardiology, nephrology, neurosurgery, plastic surgery and interventional radiology. MBBS seats are allotted on NEET (UG) scores through Medical Counselling Committee counselling, postgraduate seats on NEET (PG), and the M.Sc., MPH and Ph.D. programmes through the Vidyapeeth's own entrance test.
