Institute of Engineering and Rural Technology

Institute of Engineering and Rural Technology (IERT) is a technical institute at 26 Chatham Lines, Prayagraj, established in 1955. It is affiliated to Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow, and is AICTE approved. A Director leads the institute, with an IAS officer as Chair Person (Authorised Controller), a Registrar and deans for academic and administration, planning and development, and alumni affairs. Courses are offered at diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate level, and the institute runs a placement cell.

Seven departments teach engineering: Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Industrial and Production Engineering, Instrumentation and Control Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. B.Tech admission for 2025-26 covered six branches: Civil, Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Instrumentation and Control, and Industrial and Production Engineering. First-year applicants had to appear in JEE (Main) 2025 and hold at least 45 per cent in Intermediate (40 per cent for SC/ST). Second-year lateral entry was open to holders of a three-year engineering diploma or a B.Sc. (Mathematics) degree with the same minimum marks, through the Uttar Pradesh Combined Entrance Test.
