Kazi Nazrul University

Kazi Nazrul University is a state university in Asansol, Paschim Bardhaman district, West Bengal. It was established under the Kazi Nazrul University Act, 2012, which the West Bengal Legislature published in the Gazette on 16 August 2012. The campus is on Nazrul Road at Kalla Bypass More. The university's public self-disclosure page states that it holds NAAC grade B and is recognised by UGC, AICTE and the Bar Council of India. Academic work is organised under the Faculties of Arts, Science and Technology, Commerce and Management, and Law, with a School of Management and a School of Mines and Metallurgy. Sixteen postgraduate subjects are taught on the main campus, among them Animal Science, Applied Psychology, Bengali, Chemistry, Commerce, Education, English, Geography, Geoinformatics, Hindi, History, Law, Mathematics, Philosophy, Physics and Political Science. Undergraduate law degrees (B.A. LL.B. and B.Com. LL.B.), allied health degrees such as Physiotherapy and Optometry, B.Tech courses in Mining Engineering and in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, and two engineering diplomas are offered directly. Most other undergraduate and postgraduate subjects are taught at government-aided and self-financed affiliated colleges such as Durgapur Government College and TDB College. Admission notices for 2025-26 and 2026 use state-level counselling, online university portals and an entrance test for the MBA.
