Maharaja Ganga Singh University

Maharaja Ganga Singh University is a state university at Bikaner, Rajasthan. It was set up as the University of Bikaner under the University of Bikaner Act, 2003 (Act No. 13 of 2003), published in the Rajasthan Gazette on 7 June 2003, and was renamed by a Government of Rajasthan gazette notification of February 2009. The Governor of Rajasthan is Chancellor, and the jurisdiction covers the Bikaner division: Bikaner, Sriganganagar, Hanumangarh and Churu districts. The campus is on NH-15, Jaisalmer Road. The UGC issued its section 2(f) notification in February 2004 and a section 12B letter in October 2014; the Association of Indian Universities has granted membership and the Bar Council of India issued a letter dated 5 April 2022. NAAC accredited it in 2021 at grade C (CGPA 1.67), with validity up to 30 March 2026.

The university lists faculties of Arts, Social Science, Science, Commerce, Management, Law and Education. Regular programmes announced for 2026-27 include M.A. in English, History, Geography and Drawing and Painting, M.Com. in three streams, M.Sc. in Computer Science, Cyber Security, Data Science, Environmental Science and Microbiology, MBA, MCA, LL.B., LL.M., five-year B.A. LL.B. (Hons) and B.A. Honours in History and Geography. Self-financing programmes cover M.Sc. in Physics, Botany, Zoology, Geology, Biotechnology and Yoga Studies, M.A. in Hindi, Psychology and Rajasthani, MSW, library science and PG diplomas. Colleges across the division are affiliated to it. Admission is on merit under the State Government's admission policy, with a separate online form for each subject.
