About MLR Institute of Technology

MLR Institute of Technology (MLRIT) is a private, self-financing engineering college at Dundigal in the Medchal-Malkajgiri area of Hyderabad, Telangana. It was started in 2005 by the KMR Educational Society (called the KMR Educational Trust on the college website), headed by Marri Laxman Reddy, and is approved by AICTE (permanent ID 1-2506984). The college is affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad (JNTUH), was brought under sections 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act in October 2013 and was granted autonomous status by the UGC in 2015. In the NIRF 2025 Engineering rankings it appears in the 201-300 rank band.

AICTE's extension of approval for 2026-27, dated 4 May 2026, covers seven B.Tech programmes: Aeronautical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, CSE (Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning), CSE (Data Science), Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, with 1,440 approved seats in total. Postgraduate approvals are an MBA with 120 seats and M.Tech programmes in Computer Science and Engineering, Embedded Systems, Thermal Engineering and VLSI System Design. About 70 per cent of B.Tech seats are filled through EAPCET counselling, diploma holders can join the second year through ECET, M.Tech seats go by GATE score or PGECET rank, and MBA seats by ICET, with the remaining seats under the management quota.
