About Nehru Gram Bharati Deemed to be University
Nehru Gram Bharati (Deemed to be University), also written NGB(DU), is a deemed university at Kotwa-Jamunipur, Dubawal, in Prayagraj district, Uttar Pradesh. Jawaharlal Nehru laid the foundation stone of Nehru Gram Bharati there on 26 July 1962. Rajiv Gandhi Degree College was set up in 1996, became a postgraduate college in 2000-01 and merged into the university in 2008-09, after the Ministry of Human Resource Development notified deemed-to-be-university status on 27 June 2008 on the UGC's recommendation; the Ministry of Education extended the status on 24 November 2023. NAAC accredited the university in its second cycle with grade B+ (CGPA 2.62) on 16 June 2024, valid up to 15 June 2029. Six campuses cover about 74 acres within a 5 km radius.
Seven faculties (Arts, Science, Commerce, Law, Management and Computer Application, Education, and Agriculture) teach programmes under NEP-2020, with eight-semester B.A., B.Sc., B.Com., BCA and BBA degrees offered with honours and honours-with-research options. Other undergraduate programmes include B.Sc. (Agriculture), B.Ed., B.El.Ed., LL.B. and the integrated five-year B.A. LL.B. and B.Com. LL.B. Postgraduate programmes include M.A. in more than ten subjects, M.Sc. in five sciences, M.Com., MBA, MCA, M.Ed., MSW, LL.M. and M.A. (Journalism and Mass Communication), along with PG diplomas, certificate courses and Ph.D. programmes. Admission is on CUET scores or the university's own entrance test, interview and counselling; Ph.D. entry is through the Combined Research Entrance Test.
