UPES lists 2026-27 fees by semester (tuition plus academic service fee), so the first-year fee is: B.Tech. CSE, Mathematics and Computing or Computer Science and Economics Rs 5,16,600; B.Tech. UPES had not announced UPESEAT 2027 dates on 14 October 2026, but applications for 2027 are open. UPESEAT is an online test taken on a slot the candidate books after applying; in the 2026 cycle the last phase ran every Saturday and Wednesday and applications closed on 10 September 2026. JEE Main, SAT, CUET-UG or Class 12 board merit can replace UPESEAT for B.Tech. admission.

UPES runs its own tests: UPESEAT (B.Tech.), UPESMET-UG (BBA and integrated BBA-MBA), UPESMET (MBA), UPESDAT (B.Des. and M.Des.), ULSAT (BA LL.B. and BBA LL.B.), ULSAT-LLM (LL.M.) and UPESPAT (B.Pharm.). It also accepts JEE Main, CUET-UG, CUET-PG, CLAT, CLAT-PG, CAT, XAT, MAT, CMAT, NMAT, GMAT, UGAT, IPMAT, JIPMAT, NID, NIFT, UCEED, CEED and SAT for the programmes that name them, and prefers GATE or NET holders for M.Tech.

The UPES placements page reports 2,444 students placed in 2024-25, a highest CTC of Rs 52 lakh a year and 92% placement among students who opted for and were eligible for placement. In the data UPES filed for NIRF 2026, 1,182 of the 1,372 students who finished four-year undergraduate programmes in 2024-25 were placed, at a median salary of Rs 6.7 lakh, and 845 of 927 two-year postgraduates were placed, at a median of Rs 7.38 lakh.

NAAC accredited UPES with an A grade (CGPA 3.02) in its second cycle on 1 March 2021. The five-year term ended on 28 February 2026, but NAAC's public notice of 22 April 2026 extends accreditations that expire between 27 January 2024 and the launch of its new Maturity-Based Graded Levels framework until up to six months after that launch, so the grade remains in force. In NIRF 2025, UPES is ranked 45 among universities, 64 overall, 43 in engineering, 36 in management, 18 in law and 45 in research.

For 2026-27, UG and integrated students got 10% to 30% off first-year tuition on Class 12 marks of 60% to 95.01% and above, or 25%, 40% or 100% on JEE Main or CUET-UG percentiles from 85.01 to 95.01 and above, or on CLAT ranks up to 1,500 for five-year law. MBA students got 20% to 50% on CAT, NMAT or graduation marks. Uttarakhand domicile students get 25% off tuition each semester, and the Jyoti freeship covers semester fees for 51 students. UPES says the 2027-28 scholarships will be announced.

UPES is a private university set up in 2003 under the UPES Act, 2003 of the Uttarakhand state legislature, and the UGC recognises it under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956. Its law programmes are recognised by the Bar Council of India and its pharmacy programmes by the Pharmacy Council of India, and NBA has accredited selected B.Tech. and MBA programmes.

UPES has campus hostels and publishes a hostel fee refund policy for 2026-27, but it does not publish the hostel fee: its 2026-27 fee page lists the hostel facility among other fees without an amount. Hostel and mess charges are paid in addition to the programme fee.

UPES has two campuses in Dehradun, Uttarakhand: Bidholi (Energy Acres, P.O. Bidholi via Premnagar) and Kandoli (P.O. Kandoli via Premnagar), both with PIN 248007. Its corporate office is at Jasola District Centre, New Delhi.

UPES admits students through its own entrance tests or national scores: UPESEAT for B.Tech., UPESMET-UG for BBA, UPESMET for the MBA, UPESDAT for design, ULSAT for five-year law and UPESPAT for B.Pharm. JEE Main, CUET, CLAT, CAT and other national scores, or Class 12 board merit, can replace the UPES test; most other programmes admit through a personal interview or CUET scores.
