About Bhavan's Vivekananda College of Science, Humanities and Commerce
Bhavan's Vivekananda College of Science, Humanities and Commerce is a private, unaided and self-financed co-educational college at Sainikpuri, Secunderabad, run by the Sainikpuri Kendra of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. It was established on 2 August 1993 with 131 students and is affiliated to Osmania University, Hyderabad. The UGC recognises it under Sections 2(f) and 12(B) of its Act and granted autonomous status for six years from 2015-16. NAAC accredited the college with an A grade in 2012 and reaccredited it with an A grade in 2022. It appears in the 151-200 band of the College category in NIRF 2025.
Teaching is organised into departments of mathematics and statistics, physics and electronics, computer science, commerce, microbiology, genetics and biotechnology, biochemistry and nutrition, chemistry, languages, management studies and arts. Undergraduate programmes include B.Sc combinations with computer science or life sciences, B.Sc (Honours) Data Science, BCA, several B.Com options, BA with mass communication, and BBA, with sections of 50 to 60 students. Postgraduate programmes are M.Sc in Computer Science, Microbiology and Biochemistry, M.Com and MBA; doctoral research is listed in microbiology and biochemistry. Undergraduate admission for 2026-27 is by merit through the college's own online application and counselling, and MBA seats are allotted through TG ICET counselling.
