How ranks are used

Candidates receive state-wide ranks in order of merit. Ties are broken first by Section A marks, then Section B marks, then by age, with the older candidate ranked higher. A rank is valid only for the academic year of the test (2026-27 for the 2026 test). The minimum qualifying score is 25% (50 of 200 marks); SC and ST candidates have no minimum. Qualifying does not guarantee admission: candidates must attend counselling at the notified centres and meet the admitting authority's criteria. The 2026 notification listed Osmania, Kakatiya, Mahatma Gandhi, Palamuru, Satavahana and Telangana universities, JNTU Hyderabad, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Open University, Prof. Jayashankar Agricultural University and Veeranari Chakali Ilamma Women's University.
