About Hindustan Institute of Maritime Training College Chennai Hindustan Institute of Maritime Training (HIMT), Chennai was established in 1998 Mr Sanjeev S.Vakil, a pioneer in the field of Maritime Education and Training. HIMT is affiliated to Indian Maritime University and is approved by Directorate General of Shipping (DGS). The institute has been rated Outstanding (SMERA Grade 1) for all the courses and is India's largest maritime institute. The admissions to the institute are based on the IMU-CET conducted by the Indian Maritime University.
