Madras School of Social Work

Madras School of Social Work is a social work and human resources school at 32 Casa Major Road, Egmore, Chennai. The University of Madras index of affiliated institutions for 2013-14 gives 1952 as its year of establishment and lists it among the aided autonomous colleges affiliated to the University. The Tamil Nadu Directorate of Collegiate Education classifies it as a School of Social Work. In NIRF 2025 it is ranked 55 in the College category, with a score of 58.90.

The Directorate of Collegiate Education lists two undergraduate programmes, both self-financing and taught in English medium: B.Sc. Psychology with a sanctioned strength of 50 and B.S.W. (Social Work) with 40. At postgraduate level it lists M.S.W. with 50 aided and 40 self-financing seats, M.A. Human Resource Management with 40 seats and M.A. Human Resource and Organization Development with 40 seats. The school's data submitted for NIRF 2025 records a sanctioned intake of 99 UG and 348 PG seats for 2023-24, and an enrolment of 280 UG students (194 women and 86 men) and 604 PG students (391 women and 213 men). Of the PG students, 536 are from Tamil Nadu and 68 are from other states.
