About Prist University Thanjavur Prist University Thanjavur - Ponnaiyah Ramajayam Institute of Science and Technology popularly known as PRIST University. It was established in 1985 and situated in the state of Tamil Nadu and in the city of Thanjavur. It is a deemed to be university which is approved by University Grants Commission (UGC) and accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). Organisations that have made their impact always have a humble beginning and this stands no exception to the institution. The time moves ahead and whatever starts in a very humble way turns into an organisation that makes a very great impression on all and this stands true to PRIST. The institute was founded in 1985 by Professor P. Murugesan. It was initially known as the Institute of Computer Science and Technology. Murugesan founded the institute to introduce computer education to the Thanjavur District. In 1988, the institute received affiliation from Bharathidasan University to offer postgraduate diploma programmes in computer applications. Thereafter it expanded to include an Arts and Science College, College of Engineering and Technology, College of Education, Research Institution, and Polytechnic College. Good work always gets great deal of recognition and this educational institution has recognition from established organisations - UGC (University Grants Commission), AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education), NCTE (National Council for Teacher Education) and much more. Courses offered here are from wide range of streams - engineering, education, computer applications, pharmacy, management and much more. Students can choose from the wide range of academic programmes as per their interests. The infrastructure in place at the institution is on par with the best in the country.
