Walchand Institute of Technology

Walchand Institute of Technology (WIT) in Solapur began as a degree college in July 1983 and is one of the first unaided engineering colleges approved by the Government of Maharashtra. It is run by Shri Aillak Pannalal Digamber Jain Pathshala, a Solapur trust founded in 1885, and is named after the industrialist Seth Walchand Hirachand. All its undergraduate, postgraduate and Ph.D. programmes are affiliated to Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Solapur University, and the UGC and the university conferred autonomous status on the institute from 2021-22. NAAC accredited WIT at grade A+ (CGPA 3.26) in December 2018, and the certificate carries an extended validity to 31 December 2026. NBA accreditation covers the Computer Science and Engineering and Information Technology programmes for 2024-25 to 2026-27.

AICTE approved seven B.Tech. programmes with 660 seats for 2026-27: Computer Science and Engineering (180), Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering (120), Information Technology (120), and Civil Engineering, Electronics and Computer Engineering, Mechanical and Automation Engineering and Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (60 each). Four M.Tech. programmes (Computer Science and Engineering, Design Engineering, Structural Engineering and Electronics Engineering) have six seats each, and the institute is a recognised Ph.D. research centre of the university. First-year B.Tech. seats are filled through the Maharashtra Centralized Admission Process, followed by institute-level and Against-CAP vacancy rounds, and a direct second-year (DSY) route also exists. For 2026-27 the Fees Regulating Authority fee for open-category undergraduates is ₹1,21,739 tuition plus ₹18,261 development fee.
