How GAT-B and BET scores are used

A GAT-B score is valid for admission only in the academic year of that cycle (2026-27 for GAT-B 2026). After the result, RCB and DBT announce the qualified candidates and an all India category-wise merit list is prepared under the Government of India reservation policy; participating institutions and universities then advertise admissions separately. RCB and DBT have no role in admission, seat transfer or fee refund. For BET, candidates shortlisted in Category-I can take up the DBT-JRF fellowship at any recognised university or institution in India where they enrol for a PhD; Category-II candidates can be appointed in DBT-sponsored projects or enrol for a PhD through institutional selection, without a DBT-JRF fellowship. Students admitted to DBT-supported programmes get a stipend: ₹5,000 per month for MSc Biotechnology and allied areas, ₹7,500 for MSc Agricultural Biotechnology and ₹12,000 for MTech and MVSc (2026 bulletin). The bulletin lists participating institutions in Appendix II; RCB keeps the updated list at rcb.res.in/DBTPG.
