How PAT scores are used
Admission to the first year is by merit of PAT marks out of 600, and the older candidate ranks higher when marks are tied. Reservation follows Government policy and applies only to bonafide Himachal candidates. Counselling in 2026 ran in three online rounds, one centralised offline round and spot counselling for vacant seats.

How to Apply for HP PAT 2027
- Open hptechboard.com and click the Online Admission link (named Online Admission-2026 in 2026).
- Click the registration link for Polytechnic Admission in Diploma in Engineering, PAT (1st Year); it opens the Eakadamik portal.
- Click New User Registration, enter the details and submit; the unique registration number comes by email and SMS.
- Log in and complete the application form, which is pre-filled with the registration details; choose category and domicile (Himachali or other), accept the terms and conditions and save.
- Upload a photograph (10 KB to 1 MB) and a signature (3 KB to 1 MB) in jpg, jpeg or png format.
- Pay the fee online by debit card, credit card, net banking or UPI; a permanent registration number is generated after payment.
- Download the roll number from the Board website before the test.
