About Velalar College of Engineering and Technology
Velalar College of Engineering and Technology (VCET) is a co-educational, self-financing engineering college at Thindal on Perundurai Road in Erode, Tamil Nadu. Vellalar Educational Trust, formed in 1969, started it in 2001 with three undergraduate programmes and an intake of 180. The college is affiliated to Anna University, Chennai, and holds AICTE approval for 2026-27. The UGC granted it autonomous status from 2016-17 and extended that status for ten years, 2022-23 to 2031-32. NAAC accredited VCET at grade A+ (CGPA 3.33) in July 2022, valid to July 2027, and the NBA has accredited five undergraduate programmes for 2025-26 to 2027-28: Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and Information Technology.
The college lists 11 undergraduate programmes: B.E. in Civil, Mechanical, Biomedical, Medical Electronics, Electrical and Electronics, Electronics and Communication, and Computer Science and Engineering (with variants in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning and in Cyber Security), plus B.Tech. in Information Technology and in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science.
