Overview
CSEET is ICSI's entrance test for the CS course; the February 2027 exam date is not announced yet, and registration closes on 31 October 2026. CSEET stands for Company Secretary Executive Entrance Test. The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) is a statutory body under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. CSEET is the entry test for the Company Secretary course: a pass allows registration for the CS Executive Programme, which is followed by the CS Professional Programme. ICSI restructured the test from the June 2026 session: it is now held at examination centres in the first week of February, June and October, and the last remote-proctored session was held in January 2026.

Passing and validity
- A candidate passes with at least 40% marks in each paper and 50% in the aggregate of all papers at one sitting; marks are not exempted or carried forward.
- CSEET registration is valid for 3 years from the month of registration; the CSEET result is valid for one year, within which the candidate must register for the CS Executive Programme.
- Only e-marksheets are issued; no physical marksheet is sent.

Eligibility Criteria
The rules below are from ICSI's Announcement on restructuring CSEET (10 April 2026) and CSEET FAQ; they apply from the June 2026 session onwards.

- Exempt from CSEET, with direct registration for the CS Executive Programme: CS Foundation pass students; graduates and postgraduates in any discipline; CMA Final pass students; students in the final year or final semester of a 3-year undergraduate programme (provisional registration); students who have passed, or are appearing in, the 6th semester of a recognised 5-year integrated programme (provisional registration for those appearing).
- Candidates who have passed a Chartered Accountancy stage are also exempt; the announcement names the Intermediate stage and the FAQ names the Final stage, so ICSI's latest notice should be checked.
- SC/ST and physically handicapped candidates get a 50% concession on the registration fee and on the exam fee.

Exam Pattern
The restructured CSEET has four papers of 100 marks each, 400 marks in all, held on four separate days in an afternoon session at examination centres.

- Timing: 2:30 pm to 5:45 pm for the subjective papers and 2:30 pm to 4:45 pm for the OMR paper; the first 15 minutes are reading time.
- There is no negative marking in the OMR paper, Business Laws and Management.
- Passing: at least 40% in each paper and 50% in aggregate at one sitting; no exemption or carry-forward of marks.
- In the October 2026 session the papers are held on 1, 3, 5 and 6 October 2026, with no exam on 2 and 4 October. The February 2027 time table is not published yet.
- Results are issued as an e-marksheet only.

Paper 1: Business Communication (100 marks)
- Essentials of good English: grammar and usage, vocabulary, common errors, idioms and phrases, comprehension and summarising
- Communication: principles and process, modes and networks, digital communication, listening skills, barriers, etiquette, public relations, legal aspects, use of technology
- Business correspondence: letters, reports, memoranda, e-mail, notices, agenda and minutes
- Common business terminologies
Paper 2: Fundamentals of Accounting (100 marks)
- Basic concepts and principles of accounting; accounting process (journal, ledger, trial balance, rectification of errors); bank reconciliation statement; depreciation and amortisation
- Final accounts of a sole proprietorship; partnership and LLP accounts; introduction to company accounts (shares, debentures); accounts of non-profit organisations
Paper 3: Economic and Business Environment (100 marks)
- Part A, Economics (50 marks): demand, supply and forms of market competition; national income accounting; Indian Union Budget; Indian financial markets; Indian economy
- Part B, Business Environment (50 marks): entrepreneurship; business environment; key government institutions; global environment; environmental governance; AI and business environment; elements of corporate governance
Paper 4: Business Laws and Management (100 marks)
- Part A, Business Laws (60 marks): introduction to law; elements of company law; law of contracts; partnership law, with an overview of LLP; sale of goods; negotiable instruments
- Part B, Business Management (40 marks): introduction to management; functions of management; principles of management and modern approaches; management knowledge for company secretaries

How to Apply for CSEET February 2027
- Register for CSEET online on ICSI's student portal (registration instructions). For the February 2027 session, registration runs from 1 July to 31 October 2026.
- Complete the one-day Student Induction Programme within one month of registration; it is a pre-requisite for exam enrolment.
- Enrol for the exam online (offline applications are not accepted) from 16 November to 15 December 2026, or up to 20 December 2026 with a late fee of Rs 250, and pay the exam fee.
- Change the exam centre, if needed, in the window from 21 December 2026 to 1 January 2027; each change costs Rs 250.
- Download and print the e-admit card from the ICSI website, and check the name, photograph, signature, registration number, centre and exam date and time. Admit cards are not sent by post.
