Joint Entrance Exam Main 2026 National Testing Agency(NTA) will conduct JEE Mains (Joint Entrance Examination Mains or Joint Entrance Exam Mains) to provide admission into engineering, architecture or planning courses at the graduation level in National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Centrally Funded Technical Institutes (CFTIs) and Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs).
Candidates who pass this exam can apply for engineering (BE/BTech), architecture (BArch), and planning (BPlan) at the above-mentioned institutes.
This is a national-level exam that used to be conducted twice a year, and this year it is being conducted in June and July. The test is also a qualifier of sorts for those aiming to study in IITs across the country. Students who pass JEE Mains and stand in the top 2.5 lakh ranks will be able to apply for JEE Advanced, passing which they can get a seat in IITs.
The notification is released on the official website of NTA at the appropriate time every year. Candidates can submit applications after the notification is released.
Candidates can visit the official website and click the link for registration and create an account comprising a username and a password. Post creation of account, they can log in with the help of the password and username obtained during the registration and start filling the form, they can upload the required documents, pay the registration fees and then submit the form.
Post application form submission, applicants have to appear for a written test. The exact schedule, time, and location of the test centre will be communicated through the registered email ID or through another source. The written test will be conducted in online mode, and questions related to mathematics, physics and chemistry, creativity, innovation, design aptitude, and planning aptitude have to be answered in 3 hours.
Candidates who pass the exam with the required score (minimum qualifying marks or cutoff marks) will be called for further admission procedure. Cutoff marks will be set, and a candidate's score in the exam must be equal to the set cutoff marks.
Candidates can compare their scores with the set cutoff marks. If their score is either equal to or greater than the cutoff, they can take part in the counselling process. Information about the exam is provided below in a tabular format for the sake of the students:
