JEE Mains 2026 - Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Mains 2026, formerly known as All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE), is a national-level entrance examination organised by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission in premier engineering Institutes in India.
NTA used to conduct JEE Main twice a year in the months of February and April. However, later the exam began being conducted four times a year. For 2026, the exam will be conducted twice. The first one, which is also known as the first session, was held in January and February 2026. The second session, which will be conducted in April 2026, is now open for registration.
Students who have qualified or appear in 10+2 are eligible for it. Candidates have to visit the official website and click the link for registration. They have to enter information like their name, date of birth and email ID and create an account comprising a username and password. Once the account is created, candidates can log in and fill out the form, pay the registration fees and then submit the form.
The JEE Mains has three papers - Paper 1, which is for BE/BTech admission seekers, Paper 2A, which is for those seeking admission in BArch and Paper 2B, which is meant for students seeking to join the BPlan course.
JEE Mains is a computer-based test (CBT). The questions related to maths, physics, and chemistry have to be answered if candidates apply for Paper 1; questions related to creativity, innovation, and design have to be answered along with those from maths, physics and chemistry if candidates have applied for Paper 2A or Paper 2B.
Students can apply for one of the three above-mentioned papers or choose to appear for more than one paper. The registration fee depends on the paper the candidate chooses to apply to. Those who pass this exam can apply for engineering, architecture, planning (BE/BTech/BArch/BPlan) courses in NITs, IIITs and CFTIs.
Individuals seeking admission in IITs located across the country have to pass JEE Mains with a rank that falls under the top 2.5 lakhs on a national level to become eligible to apply for JEE Advanced, which is the entrance exam for IIT admission.
