Overview

MAH-MCA-CET is the Maharashtra entrance test for MCA admission, conducted by the State CET Cell, Mumbai. Dates for the 2027 cycle are not announced yet. The test is used for first-year admission to the two-year full-time Master of Computer Applications, and for direct second-year (lateral entry) admission through a separate division, in government, government-aided, university-department, university-managed and unaided MCA institutes approved by the Government of Maharashtra. How scores are used

The brochure states that MCA admission in the institutes above is based on the CET score. Admission uses the CET Cell's centralised admission process (CAP), where caste, EWS and disability certificates are submitted if applicable. The test runs in several shifts with different question sets, so the CET Cell normalises scores and reports percentile scores; a percentile score shows the percentage of candidates who scored equal to or below that score (Document on Normalization, 2026). Candidates could raise objections to questions or answer keys through their login at Rs 1,000 per objection (notice of 29 April 2026).

  • Mode: online computer-based test, one composite paper of 90 minutes.

  • Marking: 2 marks for each question; there is no negative marking.
  • Medium: English.
  • Time: the 90 minutes are one composite time for all four sections, not a limit per section; Mathematics and Statistics and Logical/Abstract Reasoning together carry 120 of the 200 marks.
  • Shifts: the test is held in several shifts with different question sets, so scores are normalised and reported as percentile scores.

  • Algebra: operations, expansion, factorisation, quadratic equations, indices, logarithms, arithmetic, geometric and harmonic progressions, binomial theorem, permutations and combinations
  • Co-ordinate geometry: lines, circle, distance formulae, pair of straight lines, parabola, ellipse, hyperbola, simple transformations
  • Differential equations: first order, linear with constant coefficients, homogeneous linear
  • Trigonometry: identities, equations, properties and solution of triangles, height and distance, inverse functions
  • Probability and statistics: probability, averages, frequency distributions, dispersion, skewness, kurtosis, random variables, binomial, Poisson and normal distributions, curve fitting, least squares, correlation and regression
  • Arithmetic: ratio and proportion, time and work, speed and distance, percentage

How to Apply for MAH-MCA-CET 2027

  1. Open the CET Cell website (mahacet.org) and log in to the candidate portal. The brochure says the form is filled online only and points to a user manual for the detailed steps.
  2. Enter personal and qualification details. The CET Cell verifies Aadhaar through DigiLocker and also verifies the APAAR ID during registration, so both must be correct and active.
  3. Upload a recent colour photograph (2 x 2 inch, 100 KB to 5 MB, plain light or white background, full face, eyes open).
  4. Choose preferred test cities; the CET Cell allots the final centre and venue.
  5. Pay the fee online by card, net banking, IMPS, UPI or wallet. The fee is non-refundable and non-transferable.
  6. Confirm the application and download the admit card from the candidate login once it is notified.
